How to write in a cute Valentine’s heart style
Time needed: 10 minutes
Here’s how to write in a cute heart handwriting style using a simple method!
- Pick a word to write in cursive.
First, choose a word to write in a cursive handwriting style.
- Lead into the first letter with an extended swash.
Start the first letter of the word with an extended, swirled line.
- Finish the last letter with another extended swash.
As you write the last letter of the word, finish it with another extended swirled line coming out from the word.
- Draw a heart attached to each swash.
Add a heart on the end of each swash extension. Draw them as big or small as you like.
How to make this writing style look extra good:
- Write as neatly as possible (use lined paper or guidelines)
- Keep the swashes really smooth
- Make it extra cute with other doodles or colors

Connecting two words with a heart swash
Above I showed you how to do cute, heart swash handwriting in a simple way, but you can also take it a step further!
For an even more elegant look, you can incorporate a heart into each extended swash at the ends of the word.

Another extra-special thing you can add is a heart swash that connects two words together in one continuous line.

Here’s how to connect two words with a heart swash in between (you might want to sketch it in pencil first):
- Write the first word, but finish the last letter with a long swash that swoops upward.

- Bring that extended line around into a heart shape.

- Cross the line back over itself and continue the extended swash.

- Lead into the second word to finish.

This is a little more involved, but with some practice you’ll get the hang of it… and it makes for the sweetest cards and notes.
Once you learn it, you won’t be able to stop doing it!
